Cabin Baggage and Size Allowed
 
Only one item per passenger is allowed through the airport search point with a maximum size of 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (note: the re-sealable bag must be able to fit within the cabin bag). Additional items, for example hand bags, will be required to fit inside the one permitted item of carry on baggage.
 
Screened, but permitted are walking aids, wheelchairs and pushchairs.
 
Outsize Items
 
All items of luggage which do not fit in the permitted cabin baggage size (maximum length 56 cm, width of 45 cm and depth of 25 cm) must be checked in to be placed in the aircraft hold.

An exception to this is musical instruments, these are allowed on the craft as a second item of hand baggage. It is advisable to check with your airline before travelling if any special arrangements need to be made.
 
Permitted Liquid Goods
 
Security at Newcastle Airport is still very strict however restrictions of liquids have been relaxed slightly. Read on for more unofficial information:
 
All passengers are now allowed to carry certain liquids in their hand luggage, however these must be no more than 100ml and each carried in a separate container.
 
These containers that the liquid goods are being carried in must also be carried within a single, re-sealable transparent plastic bag that must not exceed 1 litre in capacity (approximately 20cms x 20cms) - see below. All contents of said plastic bag must fit easily within and must be sealed shut. Only one such bag is allowed per passenger.
 

This bag of liquids must be presented to security staff for inspection.

 
 
Any liquid products that won't fit into the re-sealable bag must be packed in the passenger's suitcase.
 
The term 'Liquids' includes:
 
  • Drinks such as water, soup, syrups
  • Lotions, creams, oils, perfumes
  • Spray cans and pressurized containers like shaving foam and deodorants
  • Pastes including toothpastes
  • Gels including shower and hair gel
  • Other such solutions and items of similar consistency
 
Liquid Baby Food
 
When flying with babies and their foods please be advised that baby foods and sterilised water are permitted in larger quantities above the 100ml limit, however, only what is sufficient for the journey.

These liquids will be subject to a taste test at airport security.
 
Essential Liquid Medicines
 
For those passengers flying with essential medicines should be advised that it is permitted to take such essential medicines for the duration of the trip but they will be subject to the following authentications. You must obtain written permission from the airline and the airport. You should also have documentation from a qualified medical professional such as your GP or consultant.
 
Laptop Computers & Electrical Items
 
Laptop PCs and such like electrical goods (including hair dryers) must be removed at Newcastle security and screened separately.

Please note that a laptop bag counts as the one allowed piece of hand luggage per passenger.
