| General Help At Newcastle Airport |
| |
Help and assistance for Newcastle Airport disabled travellers can be booked in advance via the airline you are travelling with.
It is best to plan your time in the airport carefully if a disabled traveller. This should include making provisions, for example if you suffer from walking difficulties, from getting from the departure lounge to the boarding gate.
Check that any special assistance required is included in the price of your airline ticket before booking. Always advise the airline of any such disabilities you may suffer from.
Entry into the terminal is through revolving doors - these can be slowed down by pressing the black button that has a white wheelchair logo on it.
There are disabled toilets with alarm cords and low level telephone in the airport.
If you want to stay in your own wheelchair right up until boarding, do check in advance with your airline if this is possible, rather than transferring into an airport chair.
If you require wheelchair assistance you'll be issued with a special assistance transit form. Complete the form and hand it in to the Airport Information Desk situated between check-in desk 32 and WHSmiths.
The Information Desk has a lowered counter for wheelchair users.
Then full assistance will be offered by airside operations teams for your time at the airport.
The disabled facilities at Newcastle Airport include specialist vehicles for transit throughout the airport, however these are limited and should be booked in advance as much as possible.
Strictly guide dogs and special hearing dogs are allowed in the airport terminal.
