Avoid any embarrassing moments at check-in because you have packed a restricted or prohibited item in your case, or if your suitcase it too heavy.
First and foremost check your luggage allowance - you can normally find this on the reverse of your flight ticket.
In most instances, most airlines limit luggage to 32kg (70lbs) or less per bag, per person. If your baggage weighs more you will need to pay a big fine to carry the luggage, and pack it into smaller bags for the baggage handling dept. Or you will have to remove excess luggage, the contents of which will be destroyed.
However, should you be needing to take extra luggage contact your airline regarding an additional luggage allowance. The same applies if you are needing to take large or outsized items onto the plane - contact your airline.
For security reasons you will be asked a number of questions about your luggage - like who packed it, what it contains and if you have been approached by anyone to add something to your case. This can increase check-in so make sure you arrive at the airport in good time.
You can find more unofficial information on restricted items that must not be packed in your hand luggage or main luggage by visiting the Security section of this website |
